There’s a ‘50-50 chance’ that Rob Gronkowski returns on Sunday, report says

There is a “50-50 chance” that New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski plays this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

His return will be a boost to a struggling Patriots offense and a welcomed sight for quarterback Tom Brady who has looked frustrated through the first two weeks of the season. As ESPN reports on September 17, Gronkowski has a 50-50 chance of playing this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gronkowski has been practicing with the team after the multiple surgeries he has had through the offseason. If and when Gronkowski does return to the field he will provide a much needed target for Brady, especially in the red zone where the team has really struggled so far. Brady has definitely missed one of his favorite targets. On Monday, in an interview with WEEI Radio, Brady expressed just how important Gronkowski is to the offense.

Rob Gronkowski reportedly ’50-50′ for Week 3, but should Patriots risk it?

Jacksonville Jaguars fans hold Sign Tim Tebow gathering Things have not been going well for the 0-2 Jacksonville Jaguars, who have not had a winning season since 2007. The Jaguars scored just 11 points in their two losses. Its gotten so bad that fans are calling for three-time discarded quarterback Tim Tebows services. A group gathered Monday afternoon urging the team to sign Tebow, a Jacksonville native who won the Heisman trophy as a quarterback for the University of Florida in 2007. It has come to this for Tebow: A movement to bring him to his hometown, to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the state in which he won two national titles at Florida, generated little interest, with estimates of 20-40 people showing up. Now what happens to him?

Comey: “50-50” Gronkowski needs to sit out on Sunday

(David Bergman/SI) The Patriots need for a healthy Rob Gronkowski back in the lineup was never more apparent than last Thursday. Tom Brady spent that evening watching passes ricochet off the hands of his receivers, leaving the QB visibly exasperated. Brady may have his favorite target back soon, according to ESPNs Ed Werder, who reported that Gronkowski is 50-50 to play against the Buccaneers in Week 3. But would it make more sense for New England to make Gronkowski wait until Week 4? Thats something the Patriots coaching staff surely will discuss in the coming days, with Gronkowski inching closer to a return. Gronkowski, who has 38 touchdown receptions in 43 career games, rejoined practice a couple of weeks ago following a difficult offseason dealing with an injury to his back and complications in his previously-injured wrist.

Brady and the offense will feel more at ease once Gronkowski comes back, but Gronk isn’t a miracle worker.

If the tight end doesn’t play in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , he is likely to debut by the Week 4 trip to Atlanta. Quarterback Tom Brady did not target a tight end last Thursday in the Patriots’ 13-10 victory over the Jets. His top receiver has been Julian Edelman with Gronkowski and Danny Amendola injured. In 2012, Brady targeted tight ends Aaron Hernandez and Gronkowski 163 times and 237 times in 2011.
